  • For those that wish to make themselves a lovely gift

Hemp is a strong and durable fiber that holds it shape.  It does not need blocking after washing.  The fiber gets softer and softer the more it is used.   It has a natural resistance to mold and ultraviolet rays, it is more water absorbent then cotton and will hold its original
color longer.  Use your washcloth as you would any other washcloth.

DreamWoven Soap is a pure Glycerin soap made from Hemp Seed Oil and Lavender Oils and ground Lavender.  It is exclusively made for DreamWoven by
Parker Creations,
parkercreations@yahoo.com  .
These 4 ounce soaps are deliciously gentle, with the scent of lavender.   The Hemp Seed Oil is rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids.  It has a silky rich quality that your skin will love.  Hemp Seed Oil is natures most perfectly balanced oil, containing Omega-3 Linolenic Acid and Omega-6 Linoleic Acid, the essential fatty acids (EFA's) that your body needs for tissue repair and growth.

DreamWoven Patterns:
I made these two patterns for this specific Hemp/Cotton yarn.... but of course they can be used for any type of yarn.... either by checking gauge to match mine or going by the seat of your pants.....(I mean, it's a wash cloth after all!).   Try pure Hemp yarn or Linen for an alternative.

I've done two fairly easy patterns that create a good washcloth.  There is enough yarn here to make one of each washcloth or 2 of the same.  Either one will make a beautiful wash cloth that will last for a long time.   The little ridges are wonderful and add just enough 'friction' to give a good body cleaning.

ATTN:  Knitting Instructors:
If you are teaching classes, these kits make a wonderful tool.  Each student would begin with the same project, all using the same instructions.   You would be able to keep abreast of each students progress easily and have finished objects within a reasonable amount of time.  Your students would leave your class with confidence, a finished object they could use, a gift of some very special soap and the experience of using a Hemp blend yarn.

With the Diagonal Wash Cloth Kit  you would teach your class to CO, K, P, M1, K2Tog & Follow a Pattern, Weave in ends, as well as use needles other then the huge needles being used for 'scarf' knitting.

With the Eyelet Wash Cloth Pattern, you would teach your class to CO, K, P, YO, K2Tog, Follow a Pattern, BO, Use two yarns held together and work with needles that are not the huge needles being used for 'scarf' knitting and how to weave in ends.

Designed for those students that are tired of 'scarf' knitting and wish to try their hands at more complex knitting in the future.

Please also see the Bulky Hemp/Cotton Beanie Kit available individually and for teaching aids.

Please contact me if you are interested in using these kits for teaching.  Special pricing applies.

I know there are a lot of you out there that have never tried using Hemp or Hemp blend yarns.... and I want you to!  I always thought of Hemp as that rough. scratchy stuff that was used to make  Macrame hangings in the 1960's!

I was mistaken.   Hemp Twine (the rough stuff)  is still used in fiber arts but this is not Hemp Twine... .

Hemp is very similar to Linen.  It softens with every use and makes a wonderful wash cloth for both bodies and faces, for young and for old.  The blend of 50% Hemp - 50% Cotton carries all the positive attributes of these two cellulose fibers.   Long lasting, super absorbent and soft.

I've made a number of Hemp washcloths for myself over the last several years and they are still as good today as the day I made them.

So...........

I've put together a little kit.  It comes in its own muslin drawstring bag and includes a ball of Hemp/Cotton yarn, enough to make 2 washcloth patterns I've designed for you and a bar of Hemp Seed Oil & Lavender Glycerin soap, made exclusively for DreamWoven".

It can be a beautiful gift presented to another knitter (or want to be knitter) or you can knit it yourself and give it as a gift, or you can do this all for yourself.

Try it.... I think you might like it.

Price:   $23

Kit includes:

**This hemp is grown without harmful pesticides or fertilizers. Chemicals used in processing the hemp fiber are minimal and necessary to de-gum the fiber. No child or prison labor is used in the manufacture of this yarn

Background of Hemp
Hemp is an extremely fast growing crop, producing more fiber yield per acre than any other source. Hemp can produce 250% more fiber than cotton and 600% more fiber than flax using the same amount of land. The amount of land needed for obtaining equal yields of fiber place hemp at an advantage over other fibers.

Hemp grows best in warm tropical zones or in moderately cool, temperate climates, such as the United States. Hemp leaves the soil in excellent condition for any succeeding crop, especially when weeds may otherwise be troublesome. Where the ground permits, hemp's strong roots descend for three feet or more. The roots anchor and protect the soil from runoff, building and preserving topsoil and subsoil structures similar to those of forests. Moreover, hemp does not exhaust the soil. Hemp plants shed their leaves all through the growing season, adding rich organic matter to the topsoil and helping it retain moisture. Farmers have reported excellent hemp growth on land that had been cultivated steadily for nearly 100 years.

Hemp Today
As a fabric, hemp provides all the warmth and softness of a natural textile but with a superior durability seldom found in other materials. Hemp is extremely versatile and can be used for countless products such as clothing, accessories, shoes, furniture, and home furnishings. Clothing made from hemp incorporates all the beneficial qualities and will likely last longer and withstand harsh conditions. Hemp blended with other fibers easily incorporates the desirable qualities of both textiles. The soft elasticity of cotton or the smooth texture of silk combined with the natural strength of hemp creates a whole new genre of fashion design.

The possibilities for hemp fabrics are numerous.  In all likelihood it will eventually supersede cotton, linen, and polyester in numerous areas. With so many uses and the potential to be produced cheaply, hemp textiles are most definitely at the forefront of up and coming industry.
